Anson Primary School, Kilburn, London
Anson Primary received 17 laptops
through Tools for Schools. Donated by KPMG, the computers delivered
real benefits in the classroom by giving pupils access to IT training
at an early age. The arrival of the laptops boosted motivation and
IT skills for both pupils and their teachers. When not in use the
laptops were neatly stored and charged up in a plug-in trolley affectionately
known as 'the cow'.
Westminster Education Action Zone
Tools for Schools provided 1,000
refurbished PCs to schools throughout Westminster EAZ for redistribution
for home use. PCs were distributed to pupils and their families
without home access after they'd attended two workshops run by the
Adult Education Service at their child's school. Adults were given
details of further training opportunities in their neighbourhood
whilst pupils had a vital tool to support their schoolwork.
"The quality, service and adaptability
of the Tools for Schools package has provided us with a practical
and affordable solution to reducing the digital divide."
Kerry Crichlow, Director, WEAZ
Plant Hill Arts College, Manchester
Plant Hill made significant use of
Tools for Schools by setting up extra ICT suites to meet the huge
demand from their students for computer access. At a time when budgets
were tight many primary and secondary schools in Manchester looked
to Tools for Schools as the low-cost solution to providing sufficient
facilities.
